Dress design for Shabby Apple Dresses
Shabby Apple, which has the cutest dresses, is having a design contest. I thought it would be fun to enter, since I have been getting back into sewing clothes.
Design #1:
This dress would be considered formal/evening wear. It has a sheer, multi-layered, chiffon overlayed skirt and collar piece.
Inspiration: I actually had a dream about a tiered dress...I know- crazy! I woke up thinking about it a few mornings ago, and finally put it down on paper (with a few minor changes...)
Dress Design #2:
This dress is casual daywear. It has a pintucked bib and pocket trim, with a pleated cap sleeve.
Inspiration: I have had pintucks on my mind lately, and bought a special foot for my sewing machine. I think that they add such great detail to a dress!
Dress Design #3:
This is casual daywear also. It has tiny cap sleeves, with an exposed zipper and tiered ruffles.
Inspiration: I bought a two-tiered ruffle skirt at a thrift store the other day, and was trying to think of a way to revamp it to make it more modern. I thought of cutting down the front and adding a zipper. When dreaming up a dress design, the skirt idea came to mind...just took it a bit further!
I forgot how much fun it is to design clothes! Wish me luck.....

This is what I look forward to every night when it is dinner time for Aaron. It is so frustrating, but you can't help but laugh too!

Emily's 4th Birthday
April 10, 2010
Emily turned 4!
Such a big girl now.
We love her so much.
We love her:
smile
mannerisms
words
storytelling
imagination
sense (or lack) of style (think Punky Brewster)
voice
attitude
intelligence
sense of humor
sweetness
I am so thankful for my little Emily!

Twas The Day Before Christmas
Twas the day before Christmas and all through the home
were projects unfinished, trying to get done.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care
Emily couldn't wait till Santa was here!
Brian washing his car, and I with paintbrush
heard the phone ring, and didn't think much
Who could be calling this warm Christmas Eve?
And what we found out, we couldn't believe!
When what to my wondering ears do I hear?
A baby was born and will be ours this year!
Not only this year, but hours away
We would fly to Detroit and pick up baby.
We welcome Aaron Brian Schumann to our family!
Born 12/24/09
6lbs 12oz.
Emily passed out in the rental car on the way from the airport to the hospital

Thanksgiving in Colorado
This year we were able to go to my parents home in Colorado Springs for Thanksgiving. It was the first year in a long time when both my brother and my sister and their families were all together. Unfortunately, we didn't get a good photo of everyone, but here are a few from a very cold hiking trip we took up at Helen Hunt Falls:

Our little family

My sister Shannon, My dad Gene, and Me

Shannon and I

Emily and her cousins: Payton, Landon and Connor
Here are a couple at a park:

Shannon (my big sister), me, and Christian (my brother)

Our kids (except for Landon who was sick)

Curtain Up! Stake Musical Production - Me
So last weekend and this weekend are the dates of the Stake Musical production. I am in 4 numbers, Supercalifragilistic, (Costume picture coming soon...) Don't Rain on My Parade, Les Mis, and Jersey Boys. Here are a couple of my costumes for the stake show:
Jersey Boys (I am a back-up singer)

Les Mis (Upper class citizen, ie. barmaid):

It has been hard and a bit stressful to learn all of the music and choreography, but it is fun to be in the show. I will...however....be glad when it is over. Show Wed night, Thursday night, Friday night and 2 on Saturday! Crazy!!!!

Trick or Treat
Finally, after the first dress rehearsal that lasted from 8:30am till almost 5pm, I came home and helped Emily get ready for Trick or Treating. She was so excited she couldn't stand it. She already had her dress on, complete with princess shoes. I did her hair and let her wear some makeup. She LOVED that.
